Guidelines for the planning and approval of longwall mining have existed in specific countries for many decades. As a result of the work carried out within the PRASS III research project, operational recommendations for planning practice can be derived. These recommendations improve the planning process and thus increase safety and productivity in the sense of the research project’s task without having to change the country-specific approval rules. Existing operational recommendations were adapted to the results achieved and improved in this research project.
